I meant to read only a few chapters, before i knew it the book was over. I love when that happens. This book sucked me in and didn't let go till it was over. It was fast paced and well rounded. Anna is in love with Jasha, her boss, traveling across two states she goes to his country estate to tell him about a failing deal. Anna set to seduce Jasha gets ready at his house while he isn't there. As she hears a noise she goes downstairs to investigate. There she finds a large wolf transform into a man.. Jasha. Immediately she freaks and takes off, Jasha finds her and convinces her to come back with him by interesting measures. Little does she know his family is in great danger from an old enemy and is on a mission to save thier father from an eternity in hell alone.
Jasha makes Ann his mate without her knowledge, but due to her being in love with him she sticks with him. All the while they are being chased by Jasha's psycho cousins. I greatly enjoyed this book, it was well rounded. There are several different simultaneous plots, but all revolving around Jasha and Ann till the end. I would definately read the rest of the series.

I love Ms. Dodd's books! She writes her characters in a believable manner even though they are shape shifters. The family devotion is heartwarming and makes me want to join Mrs. Wilder's table and enjoy one of her family meals and the humor! I can read and reread her books. Thank you Ms. Dodd!
Love the author and this is one of her best series. This is my third time reading it again

You know a book falls flat when the secondary characters are more interesting than the hero and heroine of the story. Spoiler alert*** I have read the reviews of this book and have to agree, that the book has a great premise but in three main areas this book was disappointing (1) Jasha and Ann's love story was sorely lacking, (2) Ann's story was a build up to nothing and (3) the book had many inconsistencies.

(1)Jasha and Ann's love story
As another reviewer cited, where, how and why did Jasha decide that he loved Ann? It seems contrived that it occurred during the time he took her "virginity" or sometime after she found the icon. It would have been believable if the book did not state that he loved her and rather gave him pause to think about why he has an animal hunger for her and perhaps that is something the readers could identify in Jasha as sincere. But otherwise Jasha's affection for Ann did not seem genuine. The one consistent or sincere thought in this book was Ann's distrust of Jasha's love for her after she found the icon.

(2) Ann's story was a build up to nothing
First the story opens with Ann's big secret and how it makes the "bad" men come. I know she has a birthmark that is special but there is completely no information of its origins or hers for that matter. I do not know how or why her birthmark makes the bad men come to her or kill because of it. If that is to be explained later then let the reader know that, it just seems that we are to forget about it. Secondly,

(3) overall the book had many inconsistencies.
How does a shy, timid, virgin, raised by nuns, that always does the right thing, drives long distance to give her boss "important" papers to sign; decide to take a shower in said boss' home without his permission and change into something sexy while she waits for him? If Ann is so shy I could not find any credible impetus for actions. The author should not have bogged her down as such a straight arrow, but give her some impulsive acts prior to this one to make it more credible. It is one thing for her to drive with the intention of seducing her boss outside of the office but another to be so presumptuous to bring a change of clothes and shower and dress for him to come home not knowing whether he was home or alone for that matter.

If they were in such danger of being found, why did they go back to work and acted like nothing changed? What was the point of finding the couple getting it on at work?
This was a great story and the characters in it are fabulous. I thoroughly enjoyed the plot. I was fascinated by the way the author wove the plot. At times I was sort of frustrated by the girl and her lack of faith in Jasha. Definitely a great read!
When Christina Dodd ventures into the Paranormal, it's not the easy route. No vampires or werewolves for her! What I really like about Christina is; when she plots out a series, she leaves nothing out. It all coincides, links and each one is different yet all blend together. The only thing about this particular series that I might have missed (SPOILER) is each woman has something unique about her, but there really is no explanation about it. Kind of leaves you hanging.
I've read a lot of Christina Dodd's books, but the Darkness Chosen books are my favorite. Book 3, Into the Shadows, is still my #1 favorite. This one is a close second. I loved Ann immediately, but I went back and forth about Jasha until he and Ann were on the run together. I saw him grow from being a wolf-man on a mission to a good man in love. And Jasha's initial "seduction" of Ann...oh, my lanta! Sizzle doesn't begin to describe it!

My favorite super-couple will probably always be Adrik and Karen (Book 3--Into the Shadows--blew me away, and still does), but Jasha and Ann are a close second!
