My Rating: Five Sinfully Sexy Stars*****
I loved, loved, loved The Billionaire's Wake-Up-Call Girl! I'm a huge Annika Martin fan and adore her romantic comedies. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy all her work, including her darker contemporary romance as well as her romantic suspense written by her alter ego Carolyn Crane, but there's just something about her sparkling, sultry prose in her lighter, upbeat storylines that really revs my engine, probably because my favorite component of every book is always the cast of characters, and romantic comedies are generally character-driven, focusing predominantly on the people. An author can present a well thought out plot with an interesting conflict but without an engaging cast of characters, the story will fall flat. And this is where Annika Martin truly shines as a writer. She's not only an exceptionally talented storyteller and skilled wordslinger, but also a genius at creating gruff, growly, hard to get along with, and often unlikeable brutes and turning them into sexy, adorably cute, and irresistibly charming heroes as the story progresses. And handsome billionaire CEO Theo Drummond is no exception! He's soooo swoony! *sigh* But let's not forget her heroines who are always sassy, spunky, intelligent, independent free-spirits with hearts of gold - and formally trained chef, cookie baker extraordinaire, and social media genius Elizabeth 'Lizzie' Cooper aka Operator Seven is delicious perfection! The attraction between Theo and Lizzie is immediate as well as undeniable, and their sexual chemistry is so hot it sizzles. The connection between these two polar opposites literally explodes from the pages and their interaction is beyond entertaining but despite their differences, they complement each other perfectly! I laughed, snickered, snorted, sniffled, and fumed through the entire book but by the end, I was happy, satisfied, and well entertained. Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! Would I recommend it? You bet, and I am but only for adult readers since it does contain explicit language, adult humor, and dreamy sex. This story was more of a slow, seductive burn but when these two finally do get together, it's explosive! Although there's no violence, there is a well-balanced infusion of drama and angst. No CEOs or malicious department heads were harmed in the writing of this book, though I did want to strangle Lizzie's malicious and very unpleasant supervisor, Sasha. lol... But all jokes aside, The Billionaire's Wake-Up-Call Girl is a fast-paced, easy-to-follow, well-crafted and edited full-length standalone romantic comedy with a clearly defined his and her first-person narrative. The dialogue is smart, snappy, well executed, at times outrageously funny, and flows effortlessly. There's absolutely nothing I didn't love about this book! It does contain a few references to several characters from one of Martin's earlier books, Most Eligible Billionaire, but other than a mention of names, there's no connection between storylines. Will I read this author again! Absolutely! Just as soon as she releases her next book! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!

The Billionaire Wakeupcall Girl An enemiestolovers romantic comedy edition by Annika Martin Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews
This is the 5th book (of 100 this year) that I've added as "favorites 2018" so that has to tell you something. I was laughing within the first couple of pages, and the snark and sass was spot-on with this story. I was smirking for most of the book. It was certainly steamy, and I loved the phone conversations between Theo and Lizzie. The premise of the story was unique, and I loved the way that Lizzie was pulling herself up by her bootstraps. Theo was perfectly adorable, and he certainly needed Lizzie to add some color and fluffy animals to his life. I highly recommended this book!
Honestly. I devoured this like a chocolate buttercream donut after a months-long keto diet.
“I'm an arrogant control freak, baby. You're going to hate me even as you crave what I do to you.”
Chemistry is Queen with me. It's that indefinable thing that takes an average romance and takes it to another level. Ms. Martin has impressed me with the chemistry she generated between Lizzie and Theo, and alot of it is their very banter-y dialogue.
Here's the sitch - a-hole grumpy hero hiding soft gooey center, falls for his wakeup call girl heroine, who is doing it so as not to lose her job working for him, though he has no idea who is calling him. This leads to lots o' hot yet surprisingly emotional chats, that lead to some great self love scenes and eventually a big climax (heh) when the truth finally comes out.
It's not perfect, there's some continuity issues, the story loses a wee bit of steam between that climax and the final obstacle, and it dances on that line of problematic and just testing limits.
I had a good time reading it, so I'd recommend for those who love that billionaire trope with alot of dirty talk, and a shedload of contentiously hot chemistry.
I’m new to Annika Martin’s books, and I’m really glad I got a chance to read this. The Billionaire’s Wake Up call girl was laugh out loud funny! I could not stop laughing. I loved it.
The storyline was so unique. Lizzie was so real and refreshing. It’s was great to read a character that I felt like I could relate to and half the time, she internal thoughts and comebacks were things I could think or say.
Theo was so serious. Hot, sexy, smart but oh so serious. It was great I see him cut loose and act out of character for him. But it seem his Wake Up Call Girl was the only one he would act like this for.
I recommend this book so much!!
I can tell you I am not a fan of books with the following (comments in parentheses are addressing THIS book)
A lot of crude language (I started to say unnecessary crude language but you would have to read the book to understand my reluctance on that word)
Too much casual sex (but several times I could not separate casual from serious)
Any type of BDSM (minimal in action but excessive in conversation but required, again you have to read the book to understand)
People prideful to the point of stupidity (without this there would be no book)
and yet this book did all of those distasteful things and probably a few more but I still loved it. I consider that alone almost enough to give it 5 Stars but will probably leave it at 4 since I thought after all the buildup the ending was a bit rushed in comparison but thanks to those people in my Goodreads forum who recommended The Billionaire’s Wake-up-call Girl. It somehow worked a decent amount of great humor into the story while adding serious drama weaved through the book.
The reasons I did not give it 5 Stars were mainly a slightly rushed (but thoroughly delightful) ending as mentioned above and two instances where the revenge on horrible people were brushed off in a couple of sentences (I am a confirmed revenge junkie and I hate it when I am cheated) but I almost gave it 5 Stars anyway it was that good at weaving this story into a serious romance. Well done indeed. I should warn you this is not erotica but this is not for the prudish by any means.
